Hardwired and integrated LED downlights are connected directly to your home's mains wiring, and in WA that's licensed electrical work that must be done by a licensed electrician — both for safety and to keep your home insurance valid. As licensed local electricians (EC16559) we install downlights to AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules, so it's done safely and correctly.

It depends on the type. An integrated LED downlight — where the LED is built into the fitting and wired straight into the ceiling — needs a licensed electrician to replace, because it's hardwired work. A plug-in lamp or a globe you simply screw or twist into an existing socket you can do yourself. If yours is an integrated fitting (most modern downlights are), give us a call rather than risk it.
